A suggestion: limit the number of games between two bot/version combinations to a maximum, say 30.
E.g if bot X version 1 has met bot Y version 3 30 times, no more matches between these bot versions are scheduled. But they meet again when a new version of either of the bots is activated.
This would free valuable resources on the game server. The number could be dynamically changed if the game server has nothing left to do.
Alternatively matches could be scheduled as usual, but the match is skipped with a likelihood that increases depending on how often the bot versions met each other.

I did a small sample check of some of the game log: 5 out of 8 games in Texas Holdem were "uninteresting" (in the sense of: the two bot versions had met each other at least 30 times), 5 out of 5 Omaha games, 5/6 Warlight games, 5/13 Warlight 2 games.
As most bots are not very actively maintained, these numbers will probably increase. With my suggestion, active bot owners would be rewarded with a lot more games/day as is now the case (even though the "challenge this bot" also mitigates)
