Just wondering what the bots have to work with in terms of memory and disk space? Is the bot executable allowed to write to disk locations at their current directory or lower? Do such files persist from game to game or is a fresh instance of the bot and its disk usage created for each round? Can we check on our bot's directory somehow to see what it has written out (log files etc.)?

The memory limit is a bit hard to defined exactly because a couple of factors come into play, but you have several Mbs at your disposal each game. You cannot write any files with your bot, so it is indeed a fresh instance of the bot each game.

I understand not being able to write to disk, but if there is a support file that I want to read from, like a database or something, is that allowed?

If the database is small you can add it in your code. I don't think external files are allowed (it wasn't allowed in the earlier contests).
