Is there any word on the amount of memory a bot can use? A similar question could be asked about being multi-threaded. My bot uses multiple threads, but only one thread is a worker thread. (Set to minimum priority even :-) )

RAM I don't know for sure, it is dependent on which programming language you use if I recall correctly, but at least several tens of megabytes of RAM. I use 32 MB in my four in a row Java bot.
You can use multiple threads but the bot is run on a single core machine, so probably the more threads you use, the worse performance.

Any information about the memory use? Around 256 MB also works, but it would be nice to have an official answer.

There doesn't seem to be a "hard" memory limit above which the server will forcefully terminate your bot (i think a version of my bot uses more than 3GB depending on the available time), but it gets slower probably due to the writing of memory to disk.
