Ultimate Tic Tac Toe is out of Beta, meaning the source code is available on our Github page and the dates for the finals are known! We will start the lockdown on Sunday January 15, 23.59 CET. As usual, the leaderboard ranks will be reset and you can not update your bot anymore during this time. Exactly 1 week after the lockdown starts, Sunday January 22, 23.59 CET, the top 24 bots in the leaderboard will progress to the semi-finals.
Sunday January 29, the eight bots that have survived the semi-finals will be playing the 'live' finals matches again during the day. At the end we will know which bot will be the winner of the grand prize of 1024 euros!
So good luck with your bots and have fun coding!

Will the player to start be balanced this time? Or it will it be first placed starts all matches again? http://theaigames.com/competitions/heads-up-omaha/semi-finals/round/1

I would like to know the answer to this one too :) The first player gets a very significant advantage in this game. Alternating colors seems to be a simple and efficient remedy, no?

Once the lockdown happens, I'd also suggest to increase the rate at which games are being played because a lot of the top 24 bots are otherwise not going to make it into the semi-finals. Alternatively you could do a soft reset where the new rating is 1400 + (currentRating - 1400)/2 for example.

Also TripleBot just went from 1st to 6th (lost ~100 elo) by getting to play second 10 times in a row. An unlucky streak like that could skew the ratings a lot.
