# Example of attack mechanics?

I found the description of the attack/defend mechanics to be confusing. Looking at the original competition didn't help because it doesn't seem to mention the luck factor.

So could someone just provide a simple example of how attacking and defending army losses are calculated?

Nevermind. Found a good post here: https://www.warlight.net/wiki/index.php/Luck_Modifier

Looks like its a weighted average between the first value (always 60% of # of attackers, and the second value (the number of successes for each army that attacks, where each army has a 60% chance of success). The weight of the second value is determined by the luck factor. So a luck of 16% means the second value will be multiplied by 0.16, and the first value is multiplied by 1-0.16.
