I think I see a lot of familiar faces in the Warlight 2 AI challenge. Four years ago when I was still in high school there was an AI Challenge about a game involving ants.
It's cool because I remember GreenTea and Cheeser were both in that one too haha. Good to see you guys again.
During that AI competition I still was learning how to program in Java so I did not do very well lol. Anyone else here do AIChallenge or have a history of doing these AI competitions?

I was addicted with AI challanges since I was in high school. There was some 'sun ai competition'. Something similar to ants. Now can't find any information about it in google, and site not exist anymore.. I found out about this compentition in about 2 weeks before finals. It was most exiting 2 weaks of my programmers life :) Never I coded after with such passion and entusiasm )) The code was horrible (in that time I only started to learn java, and had not big programming experience) but in the end I took 14 place from ~300 total, not so bad.

For me Warlight 1 was the first AI Challenge. Last year I played Vindinium (http://vindinium.org) a while, which was a very nice challenge, but unfortunately there were too few bots playing actively. And I played seriously in the Heads Up Omaha challenge, and (until now) less seriously in Texas Hold'em and BlockBattle on this site.

Nice with players like GreenTea and cheezer that keep their user name, just seeing those names makes you shiver:). For a reason I don't know myself I keep switching name, so I participated as "eiisolver" in a 2012 Pacman AI competition (site no longer exists), "Terminator" in a Capture the Flag AI competition (aisandbox.com, but I can no longer find the results), "KLM" at 2014 CodeHockey, http://russianaicup.ru/.
I had the ambition to experiment with Monte Carlo based tree search algorithms for Warlight II, but with limited time available I focused on the Texas Hold'em competition instead, and later on the BlockBattle competition.

My first challenge was the famous Google AI Challange Ants. Sometimes I coded day and night with great enthusiasm. It was cool! :)
Then: Russian AI Cup 2012: Code Tanks
Then: Russian AI Cup 2013: Code Troopers
Then: Russian AI Cup 2014: Code Hockey
But in Warlight AI Challenge 2 I have the most complicated code :)

Nice to hear from familar names...
I have played few :
Planet Wars (got to know only in last week but this is the game which hooked me into AI competitions)
Warlight 1 (got to know abt this after the competition, still didnt stop me from writing a bot :-) )
Unfortunately, not much time these days to participate acively like I did in the days of Ants.
Good luck to All!
A very nice job so far, Jim !

@iva: thanks for link to interesting side www.codingame.com !
Just started to participate in small (9 days total / 7 left) AI competition
Probably impossible to read description without registration on site. The game in some way similar to Tron,
Here is the game field http://puu.sh/kqwri/da02d90fe6.jpg
Task is to color at most space as you can.

Just a suggestion: shouldn't this topic be moved to the general discussion thread?

I seem to have played a small subset of the ones already posted
Really enjoyed playing this, also came into contact with some different coding approaches. However I was a bit bummed out I had missed the previous two (Tron / Planet Wars), they looked like a lot of fun too...
This one was very nice as well, and had a very cool visualization (it looked a bit like Frozen Synapse)
I played briefly in a competition from MIT where you had to make a robot that milks cows ^^, I believe it was this one. (MIT students could get a credit if they beat some specific set of teacher bots)
